Not Just an
Ordinary Love Story
Mark took the opportunity to convert our story in a lovely poem. Enjoy!
In 2017 Mark visited Providence for fantasy football,
To visit with friends, while winning it all.
Lisa was working and in the Air Force,
And going to grad school too of course.
We connected on a dating app and started to chat.
We had our first date a few weeks after that.
In “beautiful” downtown Newark we ate barbecue,
Because on a first date that’s just what you do!
We fell fast in love over baked beans and ribs,
And that love has turned into diapers and cribs.
After years of dating at a long distance,
Teleworking removed all the resistance.
In 2020 we ditched all the driving,
And ever since the move our relationship’s thriving.
We love beach days, family Sundays, and visiting friends
And being together when each day ends.
And arguing about who’s taller, who looks younger, who’s stronger,
Or who getting ready to leave takes longer.
We like to aim for big goals and we push each other,
But most of all we want to be a great father and mother.
We both think we’re tough and can handle it all,
But we’re always there for each other when we fall.
It wasn’t long after that move that we made a baby,
Then another, and another, and more soon maybe..
Mark Jr is our first and such a sweet boy,
He loves trains and numbers and is so full of joy.
He spells things and counts things all day long,
If he’s not too shy he will sing you a song.
Magnolia is a beauty and a rebel at heart,
Where ever she is the party will start.
She loves having one bigger, and one baby brother,
She looks up to one and mother’s the other.
Brock is a smart and jolly little man,
He wants to play with his siblings as much as he can.
His beautifully shaped head does take a few bonks,
His big siblings might literally love their little chunk.
We’re so grateful for our children and everything in our life,
And we cannot wait to become husband and wife.
“One day you will ask me which is more important? My life or yours? I will say mine and you will walk away not knowing that you are my life”.
